How do you recover from chronic pain?
And what to do when Chronic Pain is your main cause of Anxiety?
Chronic pain can be debilitating and reduce your quality of life due to the nature of the brain’s focus on the discomfort and often agonising pain. It seems to never stop and can dull your enjoyment of life.
Have you ever considered that your pain may be driven by emotion and stress? Underlying emotions from trauma and stresses from the past can be entirely responsible for the fact that pain does not go away. It serves as a reminder that the trauma happened to you and is trapped in your autonomic nervous system letting you know it wants to be healed.
I have had several client cases where long term chronic pain has simply ‘gone away’ before the end of the consult because we uncovered underlying emotional reasons for having the pain. Sometimes the pain can be an unconscious way of seeking attention or saying ‘look at me I need help’ when that recreates a childhood attachment theory to a primary caregiver, that just maybe gave you love and attention as a child more so when you were sick or in pain, then ignored your needs at other times when you were well. It might be a weird concept but having a look into your nervous system and subconscious mind, at what is driving your pain can help lead you to recovery.
As for chronic pain causing anxiety, there are many reasons to be anxious when you hurt all day and can’t do the things you want to and get left out of invitations with friends or sports you want to play. Anxiety shows up to keep you safe or prevent you from living the life you want because it is the version of you that has been hurt and pushes you to feel even more discomfort and suffering. Your mind is doing cartwheels and the negative self talk is booming.
Have you tried self healing techniques like EFT tapping and just got frustrated before finishing and gave up on it? Deep breathing and meditation last for a few minutes before you lose focus and are back in the pain again? I have had times of pain where nothing worked, not even strong pain killers but since using ERT- emotion release technique, I have been able to manage pain issues and even locate which person the pain related to and for what reason, also pinpointing an age when I first felt the emotion that ended up driving my pain years later. Even past lives and ancestral trauma can have a part to play in our pain manifestation, called generational trauma. If your parents and grandparents did not heal their traumas then they are kept alive in the DNA that you now carry. How great would it be to say “it stops with me” and do the healing work required to change your future and that of your children and grandchildren?
I am seeing amazing results with ERT for pain management and with dietary approaches such as low oxalate diets. If you are interested in adopting a journey into healing pain and anxiety then I would love to chat. If pain is ruining your life then it’s worth a try right? Let’s see if your pain is emotionally driven or maybe you are one of the minorities who has pain from a physically incident but in my experience all long term pain has an answer in the nervous system, a trapped inner child who is shouting for help!
